Scratchin' Gravel

Anybody who visits the other local blogs must have seen the cat fight goin’ on between Ed Hooper of We Saw That, Lil’ Lamar, and Greg Aymond. Seems like these three are scratchin’ gravel over Hooper’s tirade against some Tulane scholarship giveaway.

Ya’ll can go to their sites to read what all the fuss is about.

Bottom line is that these three are all makin’ themselves look silly by even bringin’ this up. In 6 months, nobody will remember the Sansing girl’s name, or the fact that she’s getting’ to go to Tulane for free because of family connections. To tell the truth, nobody cares.

Let’s face it, the Sansing girl just wants to get out of town and try her wings. What better place to do it but N’awlins? Down there she can forget she’s from small town USA and roam the French Quarter, barfin’ up beer and blowin’ daddy’s money. All college students do it, what makes her so special?

Nuthin’

But, watchin’ Hooper, Aymond, and Lil’ Lamar try and punch each other out is a sight to see. You girls try not to get those little lace dresses dirty now…

I find it comical that Lil' Lamar, our resident socialist, supports the continued raiding of tax dollars by the wealthy and powerful. Lamar and the Roys, and the Sansings, are all part of the silk stocking crowd.

One would think that a proper little socialist like Lamar would decry the continued exploitation of the taxpayers, except when they are the recipients of the fruits of that exploitation.

More evidence that the Roys and Lamar are frauds.

Lamar was born with the same silver spoon in his mouth that the Sansing girl has. His old drunk daddy stayed sober long enough to put together a few successful real estate deals that paid for Lil Lamar's diploma from Rice.

The trouble with Lamar is that he’s defending the wrong thing. We can all see that the Sansing girl has the academic qualifications to attend Tulane.

What I want to hear Lamar defend is Chris Roy’s bias toward Menard, his discrimination towards public school graduates, and discrimination towards disadvantaged students. There are a lot of qualified graduates who didn't come from a wealthy, privileged background that could have used that scholarship.

Taxpayers resent giving scholarships to the kids of rich political supporters.

Wow.

Really classy there.

Would you like a copy of my resume, my test scores, my transcripts, and my letters of commendation?

The Rice Admissions Department can be reached at (713)-348-RICE. Ask them how, exactly, they weigh a student's family's income.

You are simply a virulent, reckless, and (I am beginning to believe) malicious liar. You are not being playful, cute, or clever, and your comments about my father cross the line.

Plus, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. At all.

Have you reviewed the applications for the Tulane scholarship? Who are you kidding with your ridiculous rant? Do you know the Sansings? Do you know how much they're worth? Or do you just recognize a name in the paper and make assumptions based on inconclusive information?

Moreover, you imply the hypothetical existence of a more worthy candidate without a shred of evidence.

Sir, I find it incredibly ironic that in a previous post, you wrote about how cowardly anonymous complainers are. I quote, "(T)he “anonymous” whistle blower reports the investigation to the press and gets his revenge. The innocent target gets smeared.

This little backstabbin’ tactic has been used right here in Cenla on more than one public official that was later found to be totally innocent. Trouble is, the press never says that the charges were a scam to begin with.

Nobody ever knows who the coward is because he filed the complaint anonymously."

You're engaging in the exact same behavior you supposedly deplore and detest-- making you just another attention-starved, half-witted, under-informed "ANONYMOUS" hypocrite.

Good luck with that.

Just FYI: I don't care if you decide to publish smears about my father; I know what it reflects about your character and your intentions.

However, there are others in my family who disagree with my approach.

Lamar, are you losing it? I cannot understand your reply because you're all over the place. Are you addressing your post to the owner of this blog? A previous poster? Who?

Sorry, I just can't follow this one.

I agree that anonymous posters should be banned, but who are you refering to in your post?

Hey Lamar…here’s some snippets from your own blog about your daddy:

"He was an alcoholic who was diagnosed with and treated for bipolar disorder; he had been in and out of rehab on three separate occasions."

"His death, the result of a single car accident, was the lead story on the local news..."

"The Town Talk requested pictures of the accident, toxicology reports..."

By the way, if alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash, why did the paper want the tox reports?

"For me, the entire thing was very personal, which is why I resisted returning to Alexandria."

Yeah, it’s a bitch to try and live down that family reputation huh? You’re a public figure now Lamar. Whatever is in your closet is fair game.

Kenny, I assume, rightfully or wrongly, that I am usually addressing the same person over and over again.

***

I am proud of the legacy my father leaves behind; it's a reputation I attempt to live up to, not one I would ever shun or be ashamed. My father did not possess a bad bone in his body and would certainly never resort to the type of vituperative and malicious smearing that some of you substitute for real political insight. He cared deeply for others, for his community, and for his profession. He gave copious amounts of time and energy toward charity; he owner-financed tens of homes throughout Alexandria and Pineville, helping people become homeowners, even when every bank in town had refused. He was deeply religious and spiritual-- sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School.

I reject the notion that simply because I am a "public figure," that it is acceptable for others to anonymously and maliciously lie about me and my family.

And I will continue to stand up to this type of political hackery whenever I am confronted with it.

It's sick, it's wrong-headed, it's mean, and frankly, I find it to be evil.

I'm fairly certain I know who owns this blog, and I know this person's reputation as well. Needless to say, based on conversations I have had with his acquaintances, it does not exactly surprise me that he would seek to exploit another person's tragedy for his own amoral political purposes.

He is not a member of the Alexandria community. He possesses no real love or commitment toward the people who live here. This is entertainment for him-- a game, which is why he likes to write in that all-to-familiar quaint, feigned colloquial voice. It's all a put-on.
